Prescription Pills
Xarelto, or rivaroxaban, is a drug prescribed to prevent blood clots. It differs from traditional blood thinners because it does not interfere with the body’s production of vitamin K. Traditional blood thinners prohibit vitamin K from thickening the blood, and the individual’s diet must be restricted to prevent vitamin K interference. Xarelto, on the other hand, inhibits an enzyme called Factor Xa that contributes to blood clotting. Dietary restrictions are not necessary with Xarelto, and monitoring blood-plasma levels isn’t as important as it is with other blood thinning medicines. Xarelto does negatively interact with over-the-counter painkillers and alcohol, and there is no known reversal of the blood thinning which can become dangerous in emergencies.

The problem of being unable to reverse the effects of Xarelto means that bleeding problems are the most severe risks associated with the drug. During an emergency or traumatic injury, Xarelto may prevent your blood from clotting and lead to excessive bleeding. Other complaints against the prescription drug include internal bleeding, hemorrhagic stroke, hematoma, wound complications, ruptured aneurysm and wrongful death. The FDA strongly warns patients against stopping Xarelto treatments without talking to your doctor even when you’ve been in an emergency. Discontinuing the drug could put you at more risk.

We Can Help You Seek Compensation for Xarelto & Pradaxa Injuries

Such horrible side-effects are well-known by doctors and pharmaceutical companies, yet Xarelto is still prescribed in favor of less dangerous alternatives. If you or a loved one has been injured due to Xarelto, then you need to understand your rights. Doctors and pharmaceutical companies can be held accountable for their negligence in civil court, and you can claim your rightful compensation for the losses you’ve incurred.
