4 Types Of Slip And Fall Accidents

Slip and fall accidents can happen anywhere and at any time. In many cases, these accidents are just minor incidents that result in nothing more than a few scrapes or bruises. However, they can also be serious accidents that cause serious injuries.

Slip and falls are one of the leading causes of injuries in the United States. So what are some of the most common types of slip and fall accidents?

Slip And Fall

It’s the most common type. It usually occurs when the floor is slippery or wet due to factors such as a leaky ceiling, spilled drink, mud or water tracked from outside, cleaning solutions that haven’t yet dried, waxed flooring, etc.

Trip And Fall

This type of accident usually occurs when there’s an obstruction in your path, such as debris or items that have fallen from a ceiling or a shelf, wire cords, poorly placed equipment, etc. Either way, the item in your path doesn’t belong there.

Step And Fall

This usually occurs when the walkway’s surface changes suddenly, such as holes, dips or ditches in the path, cracked flooring, sudden elevation changes, etc.

Stump And Fall

This kind of fall usually occurs when there’s a surface obstruction such as worn or bunched-up carpet, loose tiles, uneven steps, cracked flooring, etc.

Slip and fall accidents affect you not only physically but also emotionally and financially. Depending on the severity of the injury, you could accrue a high amount of medical bills and lost wages due to time spent out of work.  If you are injured in a slip and fall accident due to the property owner’s or business negligence, they can and should be held liable.
