Three Unexpected Consequences From Severe Motorcycle Accidents

Three Unexpected Consequences From Severe Motorcycle Accidents

Motorcycles are dangerous – there is no doubt about that. There are ways to protect yourself, such as wearing a helmet and protective gear. Still, in the end, it is just you against much larger cars and trucks that can fail to see you on the road and hit you from any angle, resulting in catastrophic injuries even if you are wearing a helmet and gear to protect your body.

There are many consequences of motorcycle accidents, including:

  • Complete paralysis of your body. A motorcycle accident can be so severe that it may leave you unable to walk for the rest of your life. You also may be unable to speak, eat, see and hear.
  • Motorcycle accidents have a high fatality risk. Death is not uncommon in motorcycle collisions. Still, suppose you are lucky enough to escape death. In that case, you may end up with a traumatic brain injury (TBI) which may preclude you from having a normal life, getting higher education (or education that requires your brain to function normally) and successful jobs, as well as injuries to other internal organs like your chest, spinal cord, your muscles.
  • Your insurance company denies your claim, resulting in an enormous bill that could easily bankrupt you. Filing a claim with an insurance company never guarantees that your claim will be approved. Make sure that you read the terms and conditions of your insurance policy or have an expert in this area review this for you.

Riding motorcycles may be fun and an exciting pastime for many. Over the years, manufacturers have tried to make them less dangerous and to develop technologies to protect motorcycle drivers. However, anytime you ride a motorcycle, you are at risk for anything from a minor injury to death. Stay alert and make sure you do everything you can to stay safe.
